While responsible use of our resources is important as we move forward, “Cap and Trade” legislation, and binding global treaties such as those presented at Copenhagen, are destructive to the United States economy. These policies are based on increasingly questionable science, and even the most faithful believer in man-caused global warming would be hard pressed to defend the suffocation of the U.S. economy by these efforts.

I will oppose any legislation that puts the burden of crack science on the shoulders of the working people of Alabama. I will support legislation that encourages the exploration and use of American resources, including coal, oil, and natural gas deposits found right here in Alabama. I will defend each American’s right to use what resources they earn, as they see fit.
